Company crossovers have become the stuff of routine in the comic book industry. But what would happen if one publisher were to obtain the right to use another publisher’s characters in a crossover with no editorial interference and no holds barred? It’s every comic fan’s fantasy: Just imagine what you would do with your favorite (or least favorite, for that matter) comic book character if you were the one calling the shots.
That’s a question Avatar Press intends to answer with Razor: The Ravening #1, a September release featuring London Night Studios’ goth girl character Razor. After kicking off Razor’s long, dark journey at Avatar with the controversial Pandora/Razor crossover, Avatar is next turning London Night’s Angel in Black over to the tender mercies of Ravyn and Glyph – the seductive vampires who star in the popular Avatar title The Ravening.
“We’re going to give Razor readers what the kind of stories and art they’ve been waiting years for,” says Avatar Press editor in chief William A. Christensen. “And we’re wrapping it up in a no holds barred comic the likes of which only Avatar seems to be able to pull off these days. In Razor: The Ravening, Razor has an explosive encounter with our vampire sirens and is forced to confront a side of herself she never knew existed.”
“With the slick, sexy style he evinced in comics like Gen 13 Bootleg and Vampirella/Wetworks, plus the uninhibited work he demonstrated in our adults-only Raw Media title, Sean Shaw is the perfect artist to bring Razor: The Ravening to life,” Christensen continues. “And myself and co-writer Mark Seifert have both had extensive experience with the London Night properties, so I think it’s safe to say that we know just what buttons to push to make Razor: The Ravening an intense experience.”
Razor: The Ravening #1 is available for order in July distributor catalogs for a September, 1999 release. Artwork available upon request.
