Layman Talks Species

Check out this commentary on our upcoming Species comic by the writer of that series, John Layman.  Layman is the highly-regarded former DC/Wildstorm editor of titles such as Planetary and The Authority, and a talented writer with a number of projects for a variety of publishers on tap for the coming year.



You don’t want to go to the movies with me.

I mean, beside the stinking whiskey breath and the wandering hands. Besides the fact that I boo mercilessly at the coming attractions and spit profanity at pre-show commercials. Besides my stubborn refusal to turn my cell phone off, not matter what. No, you really don’t want to go to the movies with me.

I’m the kind of guy that, no matter what movie, always needs to one-up the filmmaker. I’m very free with my advice about What They Shoulda Done, and how, if I was permitted to add or omit even a single scene, the “John Layman cut” of this or that movie would be a far superior film.

You could see where I would not be the ideal film date. And you could also see why getting the chance to write a comic based on a movie would be a dream come true.
