Come visit Avatar the 2009 New York Comic Con with special guests Garth Ennis and Mike Wolfer! Being held at the Jacob Javits Center in Midtown Manhattan, February 6th – 8th, NYCC is a huge event with a great guest list. Avatar is going to debut the Streets of Glory Collected edition with exclusive appearances by special guests Garth Ennis and Mike Wolfer. Avatar Press will be exhibiting alongside the comic news website Comic Book Resources at booth #1066 in the main hall. Hot off the press, all the latest Avatar releases will be available at the exhibit including four 2009 NYCC show exclusives.

Garth Ennis’ infectious cult-hit Crossed will boast two must have rarities, with NYCC convention covers by Jacen Burrows for both issues #1 and #2. Warren Ellis’ massively popular sci-fi epic Anna Mercury concludes its first story arc with issue #5, and No Hero #2 has a special cover featuring Mandy the Operator by series artist Juan Jose Ryp.

Garth Ennis will be appearing at the Avatar booth (#1066) and available to sign on Saturday, February 7th. Mike Wolfer and Avatar Press Editor-in-Chief William Christensen can also be found at the Avatar exhibit and will sign at times throughout the show. • Comic Book Resources > Reviews: Gravel #8 – That’s where we pick up this issue as the second story arc of “Gravel” kicks off with a lot of surprises, including the return of Mike Wolfer’s art. Wolfer drew every story that Gravel appeared in prior to the start of this ongoing series and, since the first “Strange Killings” mini-series, has also written the book with Warren Ellis, expanding Ellis’s short scripts into complete stories. While Oscar Jimenez was doing career-best work on “Gravel,” it’s very nice to see Wolfer return to the character he created the visuals for. He even returns to the strict three-tiered, two panels per tier page layout of his previous work on the character.
