The final wrap cover of Warren Ellis’ Scars saga is shown here, skillfully drawn as ever by Jacen Burrows with appropriately eerie color by Nimbus Studios. Accolades for this acclaimed mini-series have continued as the series itself has progressed, and both creators also have other recent and/or upcoming projects of note: Ellis is about to commit another of the Strange Killings saga with Mike Wolfer, and Burrows recently completed Alan Moore’s the Courtyard with Moore and Antony Johnston, and will embark on a major project with another of comics’ top writers shortly.
Incidentally, this Warren Ellis’ Scars #6 cover is a classic example of Ellis’ mastery of the various facets of communicating with the readership — well aware that most readers have seen this cover after having read the first few issues, and yet months in advance of this issue’s release, he and Burrows have crafted a cover that is highly intriguing without giving anything away. Every reader of Scars has his guesses as to what it is that Homicide detective John Cain is facing down, and that makes the anticipation of this issue all the more interesting.
