It takes a “special” kind of person to both get and enjoy Crossed comics. ?Let’s face it, Garth Ennis’ series doesn’t pull any punches and it has redefined “grueling horror” over the past five years. ?And when Avatar opened the doors for others who have an affinity for the sick and twisted to play in this bloody world, they brought stories that give nightmares bad dreams. ?Crossed Vol 5 TPB collects two of those tales – one by David Lapham and one by David Hine. ?In “Yellow Belly,” we see the early days of the Crossed plague through the eyes of a cowardly and socially awkward young boy. ?This story takes all the pent up frustrations of?adolescence and paints them into a nasty corner. ?And if you weren’t already afraid of clowns…you will be by the time you’re done reading it. ?The second story “The Golden Road” by David Hine is as twisted in its own right. ?Take a truck load of self absorbed college kids and put them in a position to act out their inner urges without consequence. ?But can any experiment in primal urges really compare to the unfiltered violence that comes with a Crossed infection? ?Check out these tales from the Crossed and other horrors available now from local comic shop retailers.
