Max Brooks, New York Times bestselling author of World War Z and the Zombie Survival Guide, treated fans at this year’s Fan eXpo to a first hand account of his new comic book series, Extinction Parade. ?Participating in two panels, Brooks reached out to his fans with personal anecdotes about how the series came about and his motivation for telling this story in comic book format.
Brooks took time to talk individually with fans about his work, the recent World War Z movie, and his opinion of the zombies vs vampires episode of Deadliest Warrior which he participated in.
Fans asked all manner of questions but one of the best overheard ones was his response about vampires being declared the winners in the episode in question. ?”That’s why I wrote the Extinction Parade comic book,” he said, indicating that the evaluation left out several factors that should have swung the decision toward the shambling dead.
Fan support for Max Brooks was phenomenal. ?Even with signings each day of the convention, every one of the engagements were packed literally down and around the hall with excited fans. ?And Brooks, to his credit, took time to talk to, personalize, and engage with all of his faithful supporters.
Tomorrow the second issue of Extinction Parade is out in comic shops and readers can get a glimpse even further into the unique world he has created. ?There is still time to get in on the ground floor of this creative new project and to enjoy a master storyteller’s tale of three species in mortal conflict.
