Avatar Press May 2004 Solicited Releases

Weeks of rumor and speculation around the comic book corner of the net come to an end as our May 2004 Solicited Releases section goes live.  What’s all the buzz about?  Here’s the deal:



  • Joe R. Lansdale’s By Bizarre Hands #1 — more mojo from the creator of the hit series The Drive-In. Artwork by fresh blood  Dheeraj Verma.

  • Rich Johnston’s Holed Up #1 —  Yeah, that Rich Johnston.  Holedup.net will be up shortly with more info on what will likely become one of the most talked-about indy series of ’04.  Artwork by talented newcomer Gonzalo Martinez.

  • Garth Ennis’ 303 Preview —  The creator of Preacher launches a major new creator-owned series at Avatar.  Drawn by one of the most acclaimed artists in comics, Jacen Burrows (Warren Ellis’ Scars, Bad World, Alan Moore’s The Courtyard), and colored by one of the keenest eyes in the western hemisphere, Greg Waller (Frank Miller’s Robocop).

  • Stargate SG-1 2004 Convention Special — A new mission for SG-1, by James Anthony and  Jorge Correa Jr – who nails the detail and flavor of Stargate spectacularly in his first go around here.

  • Nightjar #3 — Antony Johnston and Max Fiumara continue the tale based on characters and concepts created by Alan Moore and Bryan Talbot.

  • Warren Ellis’ Strange Killings: Necromancer #2 — One of the strangest tales yet continues for combat magician and S.A.S. soldier William Gravel, from Wolfer and Ellis.

  • Hellina vs Pandora #3 — Two Avatar exemplars go toe to toe… find out who comes out on top in this season ender by Miers and Amorim.
